Friends are great, aren’t they? I have so many wonderful friends whom I enjoy and with whom I get a lot of support. But, they cannot take on the role of a coach. And, there are various reasons for that but, take it from me, it just doesn’t work. I love my husband dearly, but I don’t want him taking on that role either!
Life changing conversations don’t usually happen in our day-to-day interactions. However, they happen on a regular basis when you’re working with a life coach. And these conversations ultimately lead to action because a coach offers something different than what friends or family offer.
Let’s say you have this idea, a goal, or a dream. You share it with your closest friend. What does that friend do, most likely? Most likely, they start to give you advice. What do you feel when they start giving you advice? Maybe some appreciation because they are trying to help, but most likely you’re feeling some irritation. And, do you know why you begin to feel irritated? Because most of the advice our friends try to give us about our ideas, we’ve already explored. You are the expert in this journey. You have the answers! And, so when a friend begins to give advice, that’s not what you need.
A coach is different because they start with the premise that YOU are the expert. They know YOU have the answers. The answers lie within YOU. A life coach is an expert in helping you get to those answers that lie within you. There’s nothing more powerful than for somebody to ride along side and ask some pretty powerful questions to help you get on track with where you want to go. There’s nothing more powerful than when somebody keeps you accountable and confronts when action has stalled. Friends don’t necessarily do this and that’s why working with a life coach is different and more effective.
So, stop going around in circles because you’ve been listening to what you “should” or “should not” do. Let’s start making some measurable progress toward your goals. Let’s start creating that life you want to live.
What’s your dream? What do you envision? Can you write it down and just let it percolate for a little bit? And, once you’ve sat with it for awhile, and you find you’re ready to make some changes, contact me and we’ll get started. You won’t regret it!
So remember, life coaching conversations are different than conversations you have with friends and family. Life coaching conversation are powerful, life changing conversations!
The conversations you have with your life coach can:
- Empower you
- Expand your point of view
- Enable you to envision beyond the horizon
- Create a plan to achieve your goals and dreams.
Your life coach can’t do the work for you. However, your life coach can provide the direction and support to enable you to make life changing decisions that will allow you to create the life you deserve. This is done through carefully crafted conversations designed to help you achieve your goals and to live your dreams.
