Life coaching is a synergistic process where a trained professional (the life coach) helps you to set and achieve your personal life goals.
Have you ever set some personal goals only to see those goals on a piece of paper, in a drawer, six months to a year later? And you realize, “Wow! Those were some good goals! What happened?” That’s a very common experience with so many of us. We get motivated, we identify goals, and then nothing happens! Well, maybe we start but we never really achieve those changes we desire. We essentially drop the ball.
We think we can keep ourselves accountable, but usually this fails. That’s because we let ourselves slide, or when it becomes tough, we start to believe we’ve made a mistake and we give up.
However, being accountable to a professional life coach is different. As a life and relationship coach, I’ll start by asking some really powerful questions that will help you to explore the changes you want to make. When those are clarified, I’ll help you set some goals that feel manageable and will move you forward step by step. And, one of the most powerful aspects of this synergistic process between you and me is that I will keep you accountable.
Accountability is so powerful! This is because accountability involves saying it out loud and making a commitment to what you have decided. And your life coach is this encouraging force that sees your strengths and helps you to focus on them.
Another aspect of this is consistency and it’s hard to have accountability without this. That’s why life coaching involves having regularly scheduled sessions so that we can break down the goals and tackle them one step at a time. As we meet each week and you experience success and change, it gives you the drive to keep going. It creates a feeling of positivity and increased confidence. I mean, really, that’s where confidence comes from — tackling a problem, one step at a time, and experiencing success.
You’ll find your confidence soars when you begin taking focused, goal driven steps in all areas of your life!
One of the most common reasons people begin working with a life coach is they feel like they’re stuck. Sometimes they’re stuck in a job. Sometimes they’re stuck in a project they need to complete such as writing a dissertation or a book, organizing their house or marketing their business. Others feel stuck in a relationship. And for some, that stuck feeling has extended to all areas of their life. They feel stuck in a life that lacks meaning and purpose.
Life coaching helps get you unstuck. This is accomplished by using tools, techniques, and processes specifically designed to discover what you’re longing for. Your life coach will help discover what drives you and gives you energy. If you don’t know what you want to do, that’s okay. Exploring this can be an integral part of the process. Your life coach can help you find the direction as well as the most efficient way to get there.
Your life coach will also encourage you when you’re feeling frustrated while making sure you’re being challenged so you can make measurable progress towards reaching your goals.
One of the most important services your life coach provides is objective feedback. Your life coach is on your side . . . she doesn’t scold or judge . . . but she can give you the kind of feedback that is necessary to help you get farther and in less time than you could on your own.
Life coaching is an uplifting experience.
So, I wonder if you can imagine the following:
- Imagine having someone who can help you to identify and focus upon the positive things in your life.
- Imagine having someone who can help you figure out how to change the not-so-positive things going on in your life.
- Imagine having someone who helps you pursue goals that build upon your innate strengths.
- Imagine having someone who can help you point out toxic situations and/or people you need to avoid.
- Imagine someone who helps you achieve the goals that bring you long lasting joy and happines.
- Imagine becoming more confident in yourself, about yourself and about your own ideas.
These are just a few of the things life coaching can help you achieve.
It is possible to create the life you desire and deserve.
